Having somehow survived a rash of injuries that robbed them of, at various times, their star shortstop, best setup man, veteran closer, top starting pitcher and designated hitter, the A's are feeling pretty good about themselves heading into the second half.

A's optimistic

In the first half of the first season of the post-Big Three era in Oakland, the A's dug themselves a hole that went as deep as 15 games under .500 during an abysmal May. But after they bounced back with a joyous June, Chavez, less than a week before the All-Star break, revised his Spring Training take.
