    A's Braden to have surgery

    Oakland Athletics starter Dallas Braden to have shoulder surgery - ESPN

    Great thing the A's had a lot of depth in their rotation and Tyson Ross has pitched well. I really like this A's rotation and would take it over the Phillies and Giants 1-5 right now.

    Is Braden just a flash in the pan or is he a legitimate pitcher? As you said, the As have enough depth in their rotation to cover his absence, so they should be fine.

    Is it me, or is this specific kind of injury becoming more and more common?

    .. will have surgery Monday in New York to repair a torn capsule in his left shoulder.
