    A's A's Sign Hermida

    Athletics signed OF Jeremy Hermida.
It's not clear if he was signed to a minor league contract, however he was assigned to Triple-A Sacramento. The 26-year-old outfielder was just released by the Red Sox on Tuesday after batting just .203/.257/.348 with five home runs and 27 RBI in 158 at-bats this season. The potential is still there, so you can't fault Athletics GM Billy Beane for taking a chance on him.
I think this is a good pickup for Beane and the A's. Hermida didn't get a fair shot in Boston and think he benefits being in the lineup everyday. He's no all star but he is a quality OFer

Just another guy who walks a lot, strikes out a lot, and doesn't make a lot of contact. Should fit right in.

He's only been with the A's for 8 ABs and is 1 for 8 with 2 walks (.125/.260). He's hitting .199 for the season, which includes 158 ABs with the Red Sox.

I can see why the Sox got rid of him.
