    A's Rangers @ A's - 3-game series

    Monday, May 3
Rich Harden (1-1, 4.56 ERA) vs. Dallas Braden (3-1, 4.20 ERA)

Hey look, it's Rich Harden! And he's not on the DL! Harden got his first win of the year in his last outing, allowing three runs in six innings. Braden, on the other hand, didn't fare so well, giving up six earned runs in just over four innings, good for his first loss of the season. (it's always interesting when we face a familiar face, especially at home, so I'm hoping for a good opening game tomorrow!)

    Tuesday, May 4
Scott Feldman (1-2, 4.50 ERA) vs. TBA

Feldman allowed three runs (only one earned) in six innings in his last start against the Palehose, but the Rangers lost 7-5, and he is now 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in his past three starts. Key stat - lefties are hitting .333 against him. TBA is, well, we'll just have to wait and see.

    Wednesday, May 5
Colby Lewis (3-0, 2.76 ERA) vs. Trevor Cahill (0-1, 10-80 ERA)

Happy (early) Cinco De Mayo everyone! Lewis pitched a phenomenal game his last time out - a scoreless nine innings with just three hits and 10 Ks in a game that was eventually won by the Rangers three innings after his departure. He's truck out 10 batters in three of his past five starts, a feat that he looks to build upon (and probably won't be too hard, seeing as how our well offense is doing). Cahill gave up six runs on seven hits in just over five innings in his season debut against the Jays, a game in which he claimed he "couldn't find his sinker." He's obviously looking to rebound, especially against Texas, a team that he holds a 3-1 record and a 2.45 ERA against.

All in all, it seems pretty even on paper, which is the scariest part. Obviously I'm hoping for a series win, but with the way things have been going recently, that could be a tall order for our men in green and gold.

3-0 in the eighth. Braden went seven innings, allowing 11 hits and K'd three. Ron Washington was ejected in the 2nd... not sure why as I just joined the game...

A's lost 4 - 2. Kouzmanoff hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 9th, but it wasn't enough (obviously). A's are now under .500 for the first time this season I believe.

    Re: Rangers @ A's - 3-game series

Yup, we're now a game and a half behind the Rangers (as Boston gave the Angels a whooping last nite).

In other news, last night's crowd was the smallest they had seen since 2003 - just about 8500 or so attended the game (I was not one of them, malhereusement). That's really depressing. I know there's a lot of fans over here who are "protesting" the potential move out of Oakland, but by boycotting A's games? Doesn't that seem a little counter-intuitive? Ziggy pointed that out on his Twitter, that the fans boycotting the games will only seal the deal on a move out of Oakland (and also that the River Cats regularly draw bigger crowds than the A's do). Pathetic.

Oh yeah - Mazzaro will be starting tonite in place of Duke, who's MRI went well apparently, and will have a cortisone injection and see how that goes before making any determinations on whether to go on the DL or not. Wuertz was also activated from the DL, and some guy who I didn't even realize was on the team was demoted to Sacramento.

A's are winning 7 - 5 in the 6th. Mazzaro only went 3 innings giving up a grand slam to Vlad (4 walks, 4 k's, and 2 hits). Barton is 2 for 2 with 3 runs, a walk, an RBI, and a triple. Sweeney is 3 for 3 with 5 RBIs including a homer.

Wuertz was activated off the DL, too.

Game over, A's win 7-6. Glad to get the win, although it got a little tight there towards the end. Let's get the series win tomorrow!

Woohoo, finally a series win! A's come out victorious to the tune of 4-1. Cahill pitched better, allowing just the one run in 5+ innings. Barton went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Patterson added a solo homer in the fifth. Next up, the Rays... oooh fun.

Well, it's good to be back over .500 and in 1st place. Let's give the Rays some payback.
