Sheets starts opening night.
The A's signed Brett Anderson to a 4-year extension with options for 2014 and 2015. It voids the deal they agreed to for 2010. It buys out all of his arby and the first year of FA. Finances were released.
Actually, ESPN has the finances.

Anderson receives a $1 million signing bonus, payable in equal installments on Aug. 5, Nov. 1, March 1 and Nov. 1, 2011. He gets $500,000 this year, $1 million next year, $3 million in 2012 and $5.5 million in 2013, and Oakland has options for $8 million in 2014 and $12 million in 2015.
If either option is declined, he would get a $1.5 million buyout. Oakland must decide within 10 days of the end of the season whether to exercise the following year's option.
Great job. Excellent signing. One of the two best signings so far this season, along with the B-Jays locking up Adam Lind for relatively cheap.
Well it's 2 1/2 weeks into the season, and we've already got two regulars on the DL (Ellis and Buck). On the bright side, Chavez and Sheets appear to be holding up quite nicely, and Suzuki is making his presence known in the middle of the lineup and with the rotation. Two steps forward, one step back. But hey, I'll take it!
I'm loving Dallas Braden's fire on A-Rod. Awesome! "That's my mound!"
Brett Anderson was put on the DL with a forearm strain. The injury isn't considered serious, but he'll probably miss 4 - 6 weeks.
Whaaa Anderson to the DL? Glad to hear it's nothing too serious, but still... that's the eighth time we've used the DL this season. To put that in perspective, we used it 17 times last season. What's up with that?
Anyways, looks like it'll be between Mazzaro, Cahill, and Gaudin for who will take over Anderson's spot in the rotation. Geren's noncommittal on who'll be taking the spot. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Gaudin? He's been terrible! I hope not...
A's are saying Anderson won't be out 4 - 6 weeks as ESPN reported and that he'll begin throwing in 2 weeks. An MRI revealed a muscle strain near his left flexor tendon.
Suzuki to the15-day DL, Donaldson called up. Duke to the DL and may need surgery on his left hip (the surgeries he had before were on his right hip).
Wtf Suzuki goes to the DL with a strained left side? Is this some sort of cruel joke? Just about a month into the season and we're already being ravaged by the injury bug? If this is a sign of things to come, then the rest of the season is going to be like hell...
A word on Coco Crisp's comeback... I read somewhere that he was like 10 days to two weeks from resuming full baseball activity... what kind of timetable that puts him on for (re)joining the club, I don't know... hopefully all goes well during his rehab, 'cause God knows we need every break we can get right now!
Duke back on the DL (Ross starting next time). Suzuki is back from the DL. Anderson should be coming back soon. At least they've hung around at 20-20 so far.
Crisp off the DL and goes 2 for 3 with a SF and 2 RBIs.
Crisp back on the DL. Woo hoo! He's got a strained right intercostal muscle.
Anderson back from the DL and pitched well earning the win vs. Detroit today.
Duke done for the year as he will need surgery on his left hip.
