OF Coco Crisp signs with the A's?

Coco Crisp is nearing an agreement with the Athletics on a one-year deal in the $5MM range, MLBTR has learned. The deal will include an option for 2011. Crisp had been talking to the Padres as well, and his agent Steve Comte expected a decision before Christmas.

I would guess a trade must be in the works because now the A's have too many OF. Perhaps newly acquired Michael Taylor starts in AAA. Regardless, I would expect Ryan Sweeney and Rajai Davis to start along with Crisp. Oh, and I assume that's $5 mil with incentives.

It seems like a deal mostly to gain Crisp's glove. If he bounces back and can hit .275 or so with a solid OBP, I like the deal for Oakland.

Supposedly, there's an option for 2011. Again, I have to think there is a trade in the works as we have too many OFs now (Crisp, Sweeney, Davis, Hairston, Buck, Cunningham, and Taylor).
