Rockhounds won the first half West Division and therefore make the palyoffs for the first time in a decade! If we win the 2nd half, then we play the eventual winner of the East Division for the Texas League Championship.

we thought so highly of Andre Ethier that we drafted him twice:
Drafted: Selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 37th round (1121st overall) of the 2001 amateur entry draft. (June-Reg phase)....Selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 2nd round (62nd overall) of the 2003 amateur entry draft. (June-Reg phase)

Steve Stanley is another guy from the Moneyball draft IIRC.

Leftie Dallas Braden is putting together a superb year. Started out 6 - 0 at Stockton, now 6 - 2 at Midland for a combined record of 12 - 2 with an ERA less than 3.00, over 100 strike outs, and about 30 walks.

OF Jason Perry is having a decent year with 15 homers and 50 RBIs so far.

Barton has been called up to AA and has already hit a homer

Barton struck out in his only AB in the Futures Game today.
tied for first place now after winning 5 in a row.
Still tied for first place...
Casey Myers is hitting over .350 in 50 games...I'm not sure who this guy is, but it just lists him as an infielder, so I don't even know what position he plays
Kevin Melillo has moved up through the system this year starting at A Kane County, then A Stockton, and now AA Midland
Ethier, Barton, Stavisky, and Stanely are all still tearing it up. Perry leads the team with 21 homers.
1st rounder from 2003 I believe, Steve Windsor is not doing so well at AA. Braden continues to do well, but his ERA is almost 4 now.

Awesome! The Texas League 2005 Post-Season All Star Team
Outfield: Andre Ethier, Midland
DH: Jason Perry, Midland
Player of the Year: Andre Ethier, Midland
Manager of the Year: Von Hayes, Midland
3 way tie for 1st place now. It's a good thing we won the 1st half, but it would be nice to win the 2nd half and get a 1st round bye in the playoffs.
We're tied for the division lead with 4 games to go.
