    A's A's @ Marniers; 3-game series

    5-1-09
    Eveland vs Silva

So in Eveland's last start, he finally made it through five innings after lasting only 4 and 4 2/3 innings in his previous two starts. Eveland is a Washington native, and has won all four of his starts against Seattle last seaon, posting a 2.55 ERA at the same time. Silva finally ended his 14-start winless streak in his last start. He was somehow able to hold the lead that he was given despite throwing 82 pitches, 48 for strikes.

    5-2-09
    Cahill vs Washburn

Cahill was crushed in his last start, allowing seven runs on eight hits in just 2 2/3 innings (his ERA actually jumped three whole runs... yikes!). Luckily, Washburn didn't fare too much better in his last start, where he allowed two homers and six runs against his former team (the Angels). However, he's been a bit of a surprise this season, with a 3-1 record and a 3.42 ERA.

    5-3-09
    Outman vs Jakubaukas

This'll be Outman's first start since his stint in the bullpen (his last scheduled start was rained out). While working out of the bullpen, he retired six of the seven batters he faced. Jakublahblahblah was able to bounce back from a rough second start to throwing a CG in his third. He retired the first 10 batters he faced, as well as the final 13.

So I think that we can take this series. Luckily we don't have to face King Felix, which is always a plus. I'm most iffy about the last game... the last time Outman started was back on April 17, so stamina could be an issue. Eh, we'll have to wait and see.

That 13th inning was kind of sick. I fully expected Ichiro to come through with a base hit and that's exactly what he did with a liner up the middle. The crowd went nuts. Big fail for Gio Gonzalez who gave up the lead, although he had been pitching since the 10th inning.

    15th inning now...

Epic fail for Dana Eveland. Should have brought in Andrew Bailey. He got up in the bullpen to warm up at least 5 or 6 times.

Its not Eveland's fault they couldn't get a pop fly.

So basically that was a sucky series. My apologies for not being able to get to a computer (three day shopping spree!!! yeayuh!). We had a chance to sweep the series, but we fell short two of the three times. Our pitching was unfortunately our weakest point in this series, which I didn't expect to see. Hopefully we can clean our act up before squaringn off against the Angels tonite...

Eric Patterson sure didn't get a chance to prove himself. Two games and you're out apparently.
