    A's Rays @ A's; 3-game set

Sorry about missing the last few series. I've been really busy. Unfortunately this will have to be a short preview again because I'm a bit short on time.

So we just finished up a three-city road trip, and we went 1-9. Can it get much worse than that? I don't think so. The big news is that Street has officially lost the closer's role (the headline in the sports section was "Huston, we have a problem" lol). Ziggy is going to be taking over for him whenever the next save opportunity arises.

Last time we faced the Rays, their pitching shut us down. Our offense hasn't improved at all since then, so this could be another tough series. The only thing going our way is that both Crawford and Longoria are on the DL (Crawford might actually have season-ending surgery on his hand I believe). We've got to shut them down and make the most of all the opportunities that we're given, because with our offense, we won't get very many scoring opportunities.

Curse you, you beat me to it. Haha jk.

I new the streak was going to end sooner rather than later. However I was naively thinking that he would go on and tie Hershieser's record of 58 or something like that. Well, there's always next year...

Here's some breaking news. We're losing 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth. Frank Thomas is up. He's 1-for-12 in this series. Pathetic.

OMFg Frank Thomas singled to RF and brought home Pennigton! Tie game! WOOT WOOT!

He also passed Reggie Jackson on the all-time RBI list, for those who care.

And then Cust prompy strikes out to end the inning. But it doesn't matter. It's bonus baseball today. Onto the tenth we go...

Shit Huston Street is on the mound. Just what we need.

WTF? Tickets for tomorrow's game are only just over $1? And I'm not in town? Why?! Why why why?!?!?!?!

(the insanely cheap ticket prices are courtesy of Ziggy's streak of 39 1/3 innings, which ended this afternoon)

Bad time to not be in Oakland, I guess.

Hahahaha no prob. That was funny.

ARG Pennington strikes out with runners on second and third. That is depressing.

Great, Tampa Bay has runners on the corners with no outs. Iwamura is at the plate, with Casilla is pitching. Not good.

Ouch. I thought Chad went to the Miami Dolphins?

Wow...someone's got to stop these corny stupid jokes.

    Haha nice one.

Suzuki somehow manages to tag Baldelli out at the plate to preserve the tie. Zobrist moves up to second. One out.

Inning over. We'll have the top of the order starting the inning off for us. Hopefully we can get the winning run home this inning (and before I go eat dinner).
