    A's A's @ Red Sox; 3-game set

Unfortunately I'm too tired to post the whole series preview like I normally do, but hopefully I'll be more like my normal self by the next series.

Today's game features Duke and Wakefield. We're currently down 0-1 n the sixth inning. We just can't get much offense going against the knuckler, and even when we do get runners on base, it's the same old story.

Oh yeah...guess who's back in the lineup today? You got it, the Big Hurt. He's 0-for-3 with a K so far, but they've all been good ABs, especially if you factor in that this is his first start since May and the fact that he's facing a knuckleballer. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

    Re: A's @ Red Sox; 3-game set

So we tied the game on a Cust home run. Initially it was a homer, but then they said it was in play, and then they said it was a home run. Idk which one it was. I wasn't watching.

Anyways, now we're in the bottom of the 10th inning. Street is on the mound for us. The heart of the order is up. High drama in Fenway.

And then Huston Street strikes out Youkilis. So far, so good.

Also - Ziggy added another two innings of scoreless baseball to extend his streak to 32 innings. Woot woot.

And then Street gets Ortiz to pop out. Wow.

But he gets the final out, thank God. I was ready to log on here and bash him to pieces if he allowed the winning run across the plate. That was too close for comfort. Better not happen again.

Either way, onto the 11th we go!

I'll be shocked if he goes back out there. He better not anyway.

Nope he's gone (fittingly so, IMO). Blevins is in to pitch the bottom of the 11th.

Varitek is in as a PH, btw.

Varitek replaced Cash who was pinch hit for. Varitek was in the field.

Well that was another depressing loss. Fitting I guess. Nice welcome for Bay to his new team atleast.

    Re: A's @ Red Sox; 3-game set

This isn't much of a better start. Eveland's thrown 35+ pitches, there's only one out, there's a runner on first, it's 5-2 them (courtesy of homers by Youkilis and Bay), and it's only the first inning. Not good.

    Re: A's @ Red Sox; 3-game set

This game has been blown open. It's now 9-2 Sox lead, and we're only half way through the game. Eveland lasted just 2+ innings, allowing all nine runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out two. Ouch. DiNardo is in as a replacement, and has done a good job in limiting the offense thus far.

    Re: A's @ Red Sox; 3-game set

Well we lost 12-2. Eveland pitched awfully, and DiNardo tried his best to keep us from further embarassing ourselves. Tomorrow we face Dice-K, so it's not going to get any easier.

In other news, Geren said that Ziggy is going to be an intern closer. He said that Street hasn't lost the job (yet?), but that he'd like to try a few games with Zeigler in the ninth and see how he fares.
