    A's @ Braves: 3-game set

    5-16-08
    Eveland vs Jerrjens

Eveland had another solid outing in hist last start against the Rangers, going six innings and allowing three runs but getting the loss. Jurrjens is the young phenom for the Braves. His last start was only five innings long, only because the Braves had him on short rest.

    5-19-08
    Harden vs Hudson

This is the marquee matchup of this series. Harden, although he wasn't dominant in his first start back from the DL, should be back on track for Saturday's start. Hudson is having an outstanding year so far for the Braves, (6-2, 2.54 ERA) and is looking to build off a shutout performance vs the Pirates last Monday.

    5-20-08
    Duchscherer vs Reyes

Duke had a solid start vs the Indians earlier this week, but was the hard-luck loser as Byrd shut us down for 7+ innings. This will be Duke's first start vs the Braves (his previous two outings against them were in relief). Reyes' last outing wasn't perfect (11 hits, 5 ER in 6 2/3 innings), but he didn't walk a batter and was challenging the hitters throughout the game. His control has been an issue in the past, so the A's should be patient against him.

Seeing as how the previous three or four predictions have backfired on me, I'm tempted to use reverse-psychology and see it I'll get any better results. They game I'm most interested in is the middle game. It should be a great pitchers duel and might yield some memorable moments.

    Re: A's @ Braves: 3-game set

A's are tied 2-2 with the Braves. We had a 2-0 lead until the 6th when Francoeur singled and McCann doubled home two runs to tie the game. Eveland pitched pretty well for us (5 2/3 IP, 6 hits, 2 ERs, 3BBs, and 4Ks).

There goes the tie. Kotsay doubles home a run against his former team. 3-2 Braves lead in the eighth.

    Re: A's @ Braves: 3-game set

So we lost yesterday 3-2 vs the Braves. It was a good game all-around, but a tough loss nonetheless. There were a few times in which runners were held up at third instead of sent home, and those few runs could have completely changed the complexion of the game. It'll be Hudson vs Harden tonite - the marquee matchup of this series. If they both pitch like the aces that they are, don't expect a lot of runs to be scored.

hopefully, they can end their 4 game losing streak or pretty soon they'll be below .500.

It's 5 - 1 A's after 5 innings. Cust and Ryan Sweeney have both homered. Harden has given up 4 hits, 1 walk, and 1 earned run with 6 k's through 5 innings so far. He's at 76 pitches so hopefully he can get through 7 innings.

    5 - 1 A's after 7. Harden goes 7 innings with 4 hits, 1 walk, and 1 earned run. He's got 8 k's and lowered his ERA to 2.91.

The A's held on 5 - 4...Street tried his best to give it away by giving up 3 runs in the 9th. He didn't get a save for that pathetic performance.

Harden pitched great tonite. And we really got to Huddy early. He's quite the gamer though and didn't give up. Props to the Braves for that. But UGH Street made it very interesting in that 9th inning. Luckily we were able to hold on, but he's definately got to work on something because he was leaving those pitches up and over the plate for those hitters and they capitalized on it.

The bad thing for the A's is they have lost there safety net with Casilla being on the D.L.. Hopefully Street can get things together and shake off the rocky outi-ng.

    Re: A's @ Braves: 3-game set

Ok so it's 3-1 Braves lead right now in the top of the third. Duke has been hanging pitches left and right, and it's showing. The Braves are capitalizing on every mistake pitch that Duke has made, while we loaded the bases with no outs and didn't score anything. We're got to capitalize on those opportunities because Reyes is pitching really inconsistantly.
