it's nice to see a lot of prospects off to a hot start...a few guys are missing because they're at the ST complex for rehab or something (Javier Herrera is one of them). Cahill and Simmons are off to fantastic starts this season. H-Rod already got a promotion to AA

it appears H-Rod was promoted too soon as he hasn't done too well in AA...he'll probably get sent back down. Mazzaro, Cahill, and Italiano are all doing fantastic. Doolittle is on fire as well.

    Re: 2008 A's Prospect Watch

    SP Craig Italiano is pwning the Midwest league. 7 - 0, 0.74 ERA, 61 innings, only 35 hits, 5 earned runs, 1 homer, 28 walks, 71 k's, and a 1.03 WHIP

    1B Sean Doolittle is hitting .323 with 15 homers and 46 RBIs. He's got a 1.027 OPS

I believe SP James Simmons has been shut down for a little while with "dead arm"...he's not injured, they're just letting him rest and limiting his innings.

SP Vince Mazzaro is doing quite well in AA. 6 - 2 with a 2.44 ERA in 66.1 innings. He's got 18 walks and 45 k's.

As far as I can tell they're leaving SP H-Rod in AA despite his ERA being over 8 and his control being off. Beane basically said that since he's striking out >1 batter / inning, that he'll be up there because that is a good indicator that he will have success up there. They expect the other numbers to improve with time. I think it also has to do with the fact that there isn't really a rotation spot for him back in Stockton with Anderson, Cahill, Lansford, etc...and they don't want to send him to Kane County.

SP Gio Gonzalez isn't doing that great at AAA. His ERA is almost 6. I wouldn't expect him to get called up this year with those kind of results.

Gio Gonzalez threw a CG 1-hitter yesterday. He gave up 1 run, 2 walks, and had 13 k's. It was against Fresno.

Trevor Cahill threw 8 shutout innings yesterday allowing 2 hits with 10 k's. Cahill has been dominating in high class A and AA this season. He's got twice as many k's as hits allowed this year.

    Re: 2008 A's Prospect Watch

Vince Mazzaro has been called up to AAA after going 12 - 3 with a 1.90 ERA with 104 k's / 36 walks in 137 innings.

OF Javier Herrera is hitting the ball well at AA now, but he's primarily been DHing apparently. CF Jermiane Mitchell is also starting to do better at A Stockton.
