Casilla pushing Street out the door?

OK, so we have all heard the Street trade rumors before the season even began, but do you think the A's will be more willing to move him with the emergence of Casilla?

He had a good year last year and has been lights out this season so far. He's pitched in 11 games (9.2 innings) without giving up a run with 1 walk and 11 k's. I think he could take over as closer if Street is moved...in fact, I expect Street to be moved by the trade deadline. Street is younger, but more expensive and could net us some nice prospects if he starts pitching like we know he can.

Thought I wouldn't say this for another six years or so but trading Street does make sense. He's battled injuries but is still a good closer. Teams like the Indians and DBacks could use closers.

Could be a smart move while he is still young to move him and get some good prsopects in return.

He is the reason why they can always seem to put a good team on the field even during rebuilding years. The A's must have one hell of a minor league system.

This was Street's first year of arby so it's only a matter of time before he gets too expensive for Beane's taste...the earlier the trade, the better the return (this year vs. next or the year after).

Casilla adds another 1.1 innings with 0 runs and 3 k's tonight...dude has been lights out so far.

IMO it all depends on what Beane can get. I need to see Casilla keep performing before I'll be ready to call him our closer.

Agreed. I'd shop him around a bit, see who takes the bait (provided Street continues to pitch well). Plus Casilla is a bit steaky. He started off great when we called him up last year, but after the AS break he just broke down.

If Street continues to perform at a level he is capable of performing, he could be very valuable in some contending teams bullpen for the playoff push.

    The Padres need a closer.

Yes they do but they have in house options like Heath Bell, not saying Bell is better but you get what I'm saying.

Brown has been just as impressive. He's appeared in 10 games for 13 innings without giving up a run yet either. So combined with Casilla that's 24 consecutive scoreless innings.

Casilla may go the entire month without a run...up to 13 games, 12.1 innings, only 9 hits and 1 walk with 16 strikeouts. Brown is up to 14 shutout innings in 11 games. And with Street only giving up 1 run since April 4, the back end of our pen has been locking down games. Street actually has an ERA of 2.53 since that first game in Japan.
