    Mariners Thursday 7/5/07 - Sunday 7/8/07 M's @ A's

    vs.

Thursday - Miguel Batista vs. Chad Gaudin
Friday - Jeff Weaver vs. Dan Haren
Saturday - Felix Hernandez vs. Rich Harden
Sunday - Ryan Feierabend vs. Joe Blanton

    Series Notes
-Evidently, Harden is starting on Saturday with a 60 - 65 pitch count
-Street and Calero threw recently and are "closer" to returning

I like the pitching matchups in this series to favor the A's. The only matchup I feel the M's have a chance in is when Felix is pitching. Harden is quality, but will be limited and then the bullpen will have to take it the rest of the way.

Well at least we'll have our four best going. I'm leaving for Tampa in the morning so hopefully we finish strong before the break.

Rich Harden is pitching?! YES! Not that DiNardo was bad, I think he did a good job in filling in for Harden. I really hope that Harden pitches well and has no bad after-effects, but then again, he's facing off against King Felix. I say series win for the A's.

Plus Harden will be lucky to get passeds the 5th inning with the pitch count he will be on. So we will probably see DiNardo at some point during that game.

He'd have to average about 12-13 pitches per inning if he were to make it through 5 innings. That's a tough task.

Yeah and you know the M's are going to make him throw strikes to up his count. Although they are the M's and a bunch of free swingers.

The Mariners have become a more patient team this year. Still more free-swinging than the A's, but much more patient than last year. The A's are currently 4-5 vs the M's...last year they were 17-2. The last time the A's faced the M's was in late April, so we'll see how Gaudin fairs tonite.

The A's really need to get 3 wins out of this series so they can creep up on the A's some more for 2nd place.

The A's are 5.5 games behind the M's. A sweep here would put them .5 games back and however many games behind the Angels.

    A sweep would be sweet.

Oh yeah. The A's owed the M's last year. Hopefully the A's will get out of this series with a +.500 record vs the M's.

I predict a 3 out of 4. The crystal ball sez so.

And as we all know, that crystal ball doesn't lie.
