3 of the teams most important pitchers are going to be there and possibly throwing. That's good news, if it all works out of course. Game 2 of the series looks like it'll be a tough one. Both pitchers are All Star candidates. Sabathia has a 1-5 record with a 6.60 ERA vs the A's, but the fact that he's at home might benefit him. I'm hoping for atleast a series split for the A's, especially if the Angels keep playing how they are.

Yes the pitching matchups for this series are sad to be the same onthe CBS Sportline site as well.
It is a shame that a marqee matchup between Sabathia and Haran couldn't have occured

Well, this matchup isn't too shabby either. Gaudin vs Sabathia. Gaudin has pretty decent numbers too. 6-2, 3.05 ERA, not bad, if you ask me.

How can you schedule relief innings in MLB?

they're building up his innings out of the pen instead of at AAA...he's going to pitch 2 innings tonight.

I realize that, but what if it's a 1-0 game and you aren't comfortable with a guy who hasn't pitched in months? Or Gaudin throwing a no hitter? You can't just say you're definitely going to pitch somebody unless it's in the minors, where the games mean next-to-nothing to the overall major league organization.
