    2007 Opening Day Roster

    PITCHERS (12)
    15 Dan Haren, RHP
    20 Huston Street, RHP
    37 Joe Kennedy, LHP
    40 Rich Harden, RHP
    41 Alan Embree, LHP
    45 Jay Witasick, RHP
    50 Kiko Calero, RHP
    52 Jay Marshall, LHP
    55 Joe Blanton, RHP
    56 Lenny DiNardo, LHP
    57 Chad Gaudin, RHP
    58 Justin Duchscherer, RHP

    CATCHERS (2)
    17 Adam Melhuse, C
    18 Jason Kendall, C

    INFIELDERS (6)
    3 Eric Chavez, 3B
    7 Bobby Crosby, SS
    12 Todd Walker, IF
    14 Mark Ellis, 2B
    19 Marco Scutaro, IF
    31 Mike Piazza, DH

    OUTFIELDERS (5)
    6 Travis Buck, OF
    22 Milton Bradley, OF
    23 Bobby Kielty, OF
    24 Shannon Stewart, OF
    33 Nick Swisher, 1B/OF

Antonio Perez was DFA. Brad Halsey was optioned to AAA Sacramento (to be stretched out as a starter in case Kennedy can't handle starting and in case of anymore injuries. 1B Dan Johnson, CF Mark Kotsay, and DK's lover SP Loaiza will start the season on the DL.

I'm surprised that DiNardo made the roster. I'm also surprised that Buck did considering he's never even played at AAA. It looks like the rotation for now is:

    1. Haren (opening day starter)
    2. Blanton
    3. Harden (so he can start the home opener)
    4. Kennedy
    5. Gaudin? Maybe DiNardo?

It also appears that there will be some sort of platoon between RF and 1B. Swisher will be playing 1B or RF regardless with Buck/Kielty/Walker mixing in RF/1B.

I have to admit, I'm not all that impressed after our injuries. I'd much rather have those 3 guys in there instead of the replacements. Blanton is a #4 at best. Buck should be at AAA so he can get regular playing time instead of warming the bench / possibly platooning. Walker shouldn't be in the field at all I'd also prefer the OF of Swisher/Kotsay/Bradley than Stewart/Bradley/Swisher (and Kielty).

I'm watching the last ST game and Kennedy just gave up his second HR to Bonds. I don't know about this guy and with Loaiza on the DL things do look a little shaky. Kielty also made an adventure out of a Dave Roberts ball hit over his head. He did hammer a double to center but the guy is scary in the OF.

well, thankfully Kielty should just be in there against LHP. Yea, I'm not sold on Kennedy being in there...especially since he now is our #4 meaning he won't get skipped like the #5 does.

apparently, Gaudin is the #4 now and Kennedy still is the #5...interesting. I like Gaudin if he isn't wild walking batters.
