Dude I was going to start this thread last night but I was a little buzzed. As far as the poll hell I don't know- all of the above? We'll be fine although I worry about Moreno going Daniel Snyder on us trying to buy a winner. We'll see although I do hope we continue to focus on the development and acquisition of young talent. It's what we do.

Well, Washington is now the manager of the Rangers...good luck to him; he deserves it.

-Thomas was voted AL comeback player of the year by the players association.

-Apparently, Hershiser really wants to be the A's next manager. see here
Orel Hershsier met in Arizona with general manager Billy Beane and his staff and said it would be a "dream come true" to get the A's job.
-Supposedly, the A's were interested in Sheffield. see here
Two different major-league officials believed Sheffield will end up with the Cubs or Athletics.

The A's need to lock up Swisher and Street to long term deals. To keep these two great young players is an essential part of their future.

the only reason they're trying to sign them, like they did with Crosby, Harden, Haren, etc, is because the A's want to avoid their arbitration years.

If it is at all possible, the A's need to re-sign Zito. He proved to be the real deal after Hudson and Mulder were traded.

The rumor of Sheffield going to the A's was a farce. After all, during the '02 offseason, the A's supposedly were interested in Sheffield to replace Giambi.

no real news right now...we may have a manager soon. I just want Zito to sign and for that to be all over with once and for all. I really hope he signs in the NL.

3 years $30 mil for Thomas? Toronto can have him...as much as I wanted him to get #500 with the A's, I wouldn't pay that much. And I don't think we'd pay to sign Bonds either...nor would I want him.

With Frank leaving I have to wonder who we'll be targeting in free agency. I haven't heard anything about anybody yet although it would probably help to hire a manager first.
