isn't this Beane's specialty, finding other clubs minor league players for veteran players. Sign and trade deals seems to work as well for Beane.

Not sure I like the Saarloos trade but I've been wrong before.

    I'll be at fanfest saturday.

Saarloos avoided arby so it wasn't like he was a FA we signed and then traded.

I guess we didn't have much room for Saarloos with Kennedy being the #5 now basically. Halsey, Gaudin, Windsor, and Komine could also start if we needed. Saarloos was signed from $1.2 mil I believe...we save a little dough. The closer spec will start at AAA I believe. He was at AA all of last season. He could be helpful in 2008 or so.

Have fun ADH...sorry about the Chargers, but the Pats lost anyway if that's any consolation.

We choked on the big dong and gave them that game. That sucked.

But our boys in Green and Gold are getting ready to rock again so I'm cool.

Prov what's your feeling on this season? IMO we have lost too much talent to make another run unless Crosby, Chavez and Swish all have a big year (how long have we been syaing that?). Hopefully Kennedy can get it done as a starter like he did out of the pen last year; that and we need Bradley to stay healthy. If nothing else I hope we pound the Angels this year.

I'm not sure what to expect. Obviously, if everyone is healthy and plays to their potential, then yea, we should make a serious run. I don't think we lost a ton as far as how those players will play this season. Thomas won't equal what he did. Zito walks a lot of batters and I dunno...he's just not my ideal #1. Payton is nothing special.

Crosby needs a full season and to progress. Harden just needs to be healthy because he is one of the best already. Swisher needs to be more consistent. Chavez just needs to have a healthy season as well. To me those are the biggest question marks so-to-speak. It will be interesting to say the least.

Right but it seems like it's the same questions with the same guys every year yet when you look at their stats it often tells a different story. Then again we made it to the ALCS last year so I don't know. We'll compete and IMO a huge player that has not been mentioned is Bradley (I know- I dig that dude ) where health is also an issue.

If you check the mailbag on the main site it doesn't sound like Fremont is a done deal. No matter I'll follow this team wherever they go.

I'm also thinking about a trip to ST ( I need a vacation).

A's baseball right around the corner.

Athletics agreed to terms with outfielder Bobby Kielty on a one-year, $2.1 million contract.

Kielty asked for $2.5 million in arbitration and was offered $1.925 million. He's getting a $250,000 raise after hitting .270/.329/.441 in 270 at-bats last season. The A's will use him as their fourth outfielder and couple play him in left against left-handers, with Nick Swisher moving to first base.

Yea, I forgot about Bradley when I was typing that up...he needs to be healthy as well.

$2.1 mil for a bench/platoon player? Unless they plan on using him in LF to replace Payton...

I'm not saying they should play him as the starting LF. I just meant $2 mil is a lot for a bench player...if he was worthy of starting, then sure $2 mil would be OK.

ADH, how was fan fest? Beane seems content with the team as is.
