Yanks acquire C McDonald from Rangers

Yankees acquired catcher Keith McDonald from the Rangers for a player to be named.
The Bombers must be giving up Derek Jeter since they're getting one of the greatest hitters in major league history (three homers in nine at-bats in 2000-01). The Yankees may carry three catchers initially, with Wil Nieves getting the third spot, so McDonald becomes another option for Triple-A Columbus

Who is the Yankees backup catcher anyway? Flaherty's retired, and I missed who they got as backup. I can see why they got McDonald, he's cheap and Posada's injured a bit now.

Flaherty's not retired, he's on the Red Sox...
How do you not know that, aren't you a diehard Sox fan?

Backup = Kelly Stinnet, but as General mentioned, Will Nieves would be a more viable option as backup, similar to Posada in Girardi's last season here.

    There's a reason Bard's catching Wakefield now.

    Well...

    <---

But can I just say, in the context he wrote that it appeared he meant that Flaherty retired so he was no longer a NYY catcher, but actually, he left first.
