Jeter! Both SS's seem to be overrated, but Renteria has been really hyped lately, and he's really only had one good year. Also, for a guy known as Mr. Clutch, he seems to buckle under pressure.

Jeter is an all star and a team leader.

Renteria was good last year though.

I rather have a team leader who can produce more than a fast SS who, like crazy said, is really getting overhyped lately. I think Rent. will let some people down.

Not even close, it's Jeter. I give him the statistical edge and the leadership edge, and Renteria is overrated.

Renteria is the 2nd best shortstop in baseball, behind Tejada. He is better then Jeter statistically. The Red Sox have team leaders already, they don't need him for that.

I'd take Jeter over Renteria anyday. Renteria had a bad season last year. Statitstically there is no doubt that Jeter is better.

    Leadership-Jeter
    Batting-Renteria
    Fielding-draw
    Arm-draw
    Price-Renteria

    Overall-Renteria.

I never was a fan of Jeter, and probably never will be.

None, actually. I just find Renteria to be a better player.

Jeter is way way way better.

I'm not a fan of Jeter's either, but I'd love to know how you can say Renteria is a better hitter than Jeter.

2004 (Average year for Renteria/Below average year for Jeter)
    Jeter .292 BA, .352 OBP, .844 OPS, 23 HRs,
    Renteria .287 BA, .327 OBP, .728 OPS, 10 HRs,

    2003 (Renteria's career year/Jeter only had 482 ABs)
    Jeter .324 BA, .393 OBP, .844 OPS, 10 HRs
    Renteria .330 BA, .394 OBP, .874 OPS, 13 HRs

So if you were a GM and both players were on the market and money wasn't a problem, you would pursue Renteria?
Man, Renteria can't even touch Jeter, and I think we all know that, even the most diehard Yankee hater knows that. Jeter may be an overrated player in some people's opinions, but you have to put all bias aside and look at what he brings to this team. Not only is he a leader, he's a smart player, his head is always in the game, and he's a selfless player. You can't say that about a lot of players today.

I hate the Yanks, and like the Sox, but I have to say if I was put in the situation, it would be Jeter, no question.

That being said, I would rather have Damon then Williams, Ramirez then Matsui, Bellhorn over Womack, Millar over Martinez, Ortiz over Giambi, and Tek/Posada is a wash.

Circular logic aside, Mr Mims, you have yet to provide a single credible reason why you are, in fact, hot.
