Pujols Shows ARod How It's Done

That is what a REAL big time player is supposed to do, w/ 2 out and 2 on down 2 and the season on the line he hits a 3 run HR.

By the way, for the folks who put think Lidge may be as good as Mariano you can stop all that discussion. Mariano has blown a couple in his postseason career but neevr has he started an inning up 2 and blown a postseason save. If SL goes on to win this will be the Astros version of Donnie Moore giving up the HR to Dave Henderson in 1986- I just hope Lidge can deal better w/ it than Moore did as Moore eventually committed suicide.

    At least you're not bitter.

Who are these "folks" who think that Lidge is as good as Mariano, anyways?

nyjunc: Don't forget the two players who after two were out, never gave up, and set up Pujols for success. And you are totally correct regarding Rivera.

Excellent point, sort of like Jeter singling int he 9th of game 5 to set up ARod as the tying run.

And we all know what Arod gave us. Where are you Scott Brosius!

What about Matsui in the 9th? You guys have a selective memory.

Did Matsui ground into a DP? Once again Matsui had a few clucth hits and he drove in 4 which was 4 more than ARod.

He was up in the ninth and had his chance and blew it too. No difference.

arod, sheffield and matsui all came up limp in the series. you cant just look at one inning and say well.... this guy did or didnt do it, so hes not clutch. the series as a whole... i agree, matsui didnt do his job... neither did sheffield, and certainly neither did arod.

however... matsui has had a history of being a clutch ball player in pinstripes. sheffield has had a history of being a clutch ball player in pinstripes. arod hasnt had a history of clutch anywhere... thus why hes the brunt of the attention, whereas matsui and sheffield get excused.

Very accurate Hammer. No player succeeds all the time, particularly when it really counts. In fact, every player fails most of the time. But certain players come up big and don't get flustered in the clutch. Arod is a proven dismal failure.

Well if you understand the game, quit blaming everything on Arod for Pete's sake. The Yankees as a team blew it. Sheff and Matsui have won nothing either for the Yanks.

True, but Sheffield and Matsui knocked in a couple of runs. More than the zero.

Who cares how many runs they knocked in. It's winning that counts and they lost. Sheffield and Matsui are losers.
