    Yankees Yanks at Red Sox(Sept 30-Oct 2)

It comes down to 3 games(and possibly a 4th), we need 1 win to force a 1 game playoff at worst(depending upon what Cle does, if they lose 2 and we lose 2 then us and Bos would be in and no need for a 1 game playoff Mon) and 2 wins to clinch the East. We have Wang vs. Wells tonight, Johnson vs. Wakefield tomorrow and Mussina vs. Schilling on Sunday. getting a W tonight would be huge, it would take some pressure off and allow us to go for the division w/ Randy Johnson on the hill tomorrow.

Doesn't a 7th inning having anything to do with Mike Stanton just bring a nice wide smile to your face? I mean what the hell did the Sox pick him up for? To get Bubba Crosby out? To walk Jason Giambi a few times? To see if Sheff can hit a ball through the Green Monster? Great pick up, BoSox. He's a rally waiting to happen. I guess you could say the same things about Leiter and Embreeeee, but atleast they can be on the postseason roster for mop up call. Paplebon pitching 2 and change last night means we might see ol' cousin Stanton tonight!

    LEZZGO YANKS!!!!

The Yanks also tried to get him which is why Bsoton had to give up 2 players to get Stanton. I guess both teams hoped if they got him they could get lucky and he has a batter or 2 left in his arm.

Yanks taking Stanton to keep Mueller, Tort, and Johnny off the bases for the big guys makes more sense than the Sox getting him for Giambi and Cano. Matsui kills leftys so if thats their goal with him, its an even sillier move.

Yanks lose 5-3 thanks in large part to Jorge Posada. We were up 1-0 in the first w/ the bases loaded and 1 out and later in the game he had 2nd and 3rd w/ 1 out and in neither situation did he even get a sac fly. add to his great defense of poor throws allowing Damon to steal twice and score twice and his passed ball and it was a typical Jorge night. WHY is he batting in the 6th spot? he's back to being an automatic out and he's a rally killer.

Luckily Randy Johnson takes the hill today and F;aherty will be behind the plate. The other good news is Cle lost and if they lose today and we win we clinch the division. We'd clinch b/c we'd be assured of finishing ahead of Cleveland and if Bos won 1 more so would they and we'd finish w/ the better head to head record so there would be no playoff game and Bos would be the WC. If we win the next 2 and Cle splits then they'd play Bos in a playoff game.

I had a real bad feeling in watching the 1st inning and that we only put 1 across.

Tough loss but nothing will be easy. We need to get it done the next 2 games!!!

Kudos to RJ for a good outing. 7 1/3 3 runs allowed. The offense jumped on Wakefield.

    8-4 in the 9th

Cleveland loses 4-3 to the WhiteSox.
