Yankees Chapman headed back to New York

Per Ken Rosenthal. The deal is worth 5 years, 86 million. Spent a lot on him but Betances is clearly not a closer.

The Yankees probably would have been better off keeping Andrew Miller whose $9 million a year salary now looks like chump change for an elite closer.

That's a good point but the Yankees basically got Gleyber Torres and others for basically.... nothing. The haul they received back from Cleveland was also quite nice. I do agree with your point but I'm trying to stay optimistic here..

Only if they would have then traded him this season. Money means nothing to teams like ours really. The Yankees are/were an old flawed 85 win team. They need the youth and the building blocks more than they need someone whose best usage is at a part of the season they're not likely to get to.

Trading him away really couldn't have worked out any better.
