Seems like more picking on ARod by the tabloids. Who cares if ARod plays in illegal poker games? He plays in NY where I'm sure you can't throw a baseball without finding some sort of illegal poker game. He's a multi-millionaire who has to find some sort of rush. I think there are worst things than playing poker with Matt Damon, Tobey Maguire and Leo DiCaprio.

There is more involved than just a few guys getting together to bet some money on poker in a back room.


Basically at the heart of the matter is who was organizing these "get togethers" and how he got the money to finance them.

According to the suit, Maguire won more than $300,000 worth of illegal funds allegedly embezzled from a hedge fund investor by Bradley Ruderman, who is currently in jail for a ponzi scheme.

The games, reportedly led by Ruderman, CEO of Ruderman Capital Partners, are unlicensed and illegal under California law. According to the investigation, Ruderman lost $25M of investor money in the games, which were held bi-weekly in suites at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Viper Room and Four Seasons Hotel.
