I agree.. Too much talent is on this roster to start pushing the panic button already.

"After missing two straight games with recurring soreness in his surgically repaired right elbow, set-up man Rafael Soriano expects to miss the two-game series against the Rays that starts Monday night.

"I am going to throw a bullpen (Monday)," Soriano said. "And see how I feel and if everything goes fine I'll be ready on Wednesday."

When asked if there could be a trip to the disabled list, Soriano replied, "We'll see after I throw the bullpen.""

Other than the loss tonight I was a little disappointed that Swish wasn't in the game tonight since I had my usual seat between the Rays bull pen and RF. I am guessing it was performance related and not injury.

    It's official;

The Yankees placed right-hander Rafael Soriano on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday with right elbow inflammation.

Soriano was examined by team physician Christopher Ahmad at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where an MRI revealed similar results to another examination made last Wednesday in New York.

The Yankees have no definite timetable for his return.

Good news after a scary moment -

Chris Dickerson suffered a mild concussion Wednesday night, when lefty Mike Gonzalez's fastball shattered the bill of his helmet. But other than a splitting headache and a sleepless night, Dickerson felt he'd be available to play tonight at the Stadium.

"I feel extremely fortunate. It could've been bad," said Dickerson, who dipped his head just before the pitch. Dickerson was batting after Robinson Cano's two-run double broke up a 1-1 game in the 15th inning, a game the Yanks won, 4-1.

Dickerson's CT scan came back normal and he had no dizziness. The Yankee outfielder felt there absolutely was no intent to hit him. Before Thursday's game, Gonzalez and a few other Orioles greeted Dickerson behind the batting cage with hugs and handshakes.

Dickerson had two previous concussions, but seemed certain he wouldn't require a stint on the new seven-day disabled list for concussion symptoms."

Great sweep over the A's by the Yankees. Colon was outstanding along with Garcia and Burnett.

The bats were alive and this was a great series for us especially after just dropping two to Seattle.

3 game set against the Angels before the Yankees go home for a ten game homestand.

Yankees claimed RHP Jeff Marquez off waivers from the White Sox.
Marquez was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Sunday. The 26-year-old right-hander had a 3.97 ERA and 36/15 K/BB ratio over his first 47 2/3 innings with Triple-A Charlotte this season. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in 2004 and was shipped to Chicago as part of the Nick Swisher trade in November of 2008. The Yankees will need to announce a corresponding roster move.
Not a bad pickup for the Yankees as they already know a lot about him and need all the pitching they can get. Surprised someone farther in the standing didn't claim him.

Great series win against the Cubs. Was a lot of fun to watch and saw some great things from the team this weekend. The bats were looking real good last night and were able to give CC his 9th win even though it wasn't CC's best outing.

Hope to see Jeter come back soon but really don't want him to rush back.

Gonna be another fun series these next few days against the Reds.

Sergio Mitre is heading back to the Bronx. The Yankees acquired the right-hander from the Brewers for cash considerations, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (on Twitter). Milwaukee designated Mitre for assignment Monday and he has since drawn interest from other teams.

Mitre, 30, has posted a 3.27 ERA in 33 innings since Milwaukee acquired him from the Yankees for Chris Dickerson in March. The right-hander has a 14K/10BB ratio with a typically high 50.9% ground ball rate in his return to the National League.

Yankees signed LHP J.C. Romero to a minor league contract.
That didn't take long. The 35-year-old southpaw was just released by the Nationals this morning, but could pitch for Triple-A Scranton as soon as Thursday night. The Yankees could obviously use another left-hander in their bullpen, so Romero is an ideal fit.
Yankee fans are dancing with joy!

A.J. Burnett's rotation spot is no longer guaranteed.
Manager Joe Girardi said on Tuesday that Burnett's job was safe, but he could apparently be sent to the bullpen in favor of Phil Hughes if Hughes pitches well against the Rays on Saturday. Burnett has been ghastly in 29 1/3 innings since the All-Star break, posting a 6.44 ERA to go along with a 1.81 and 29/14 K/BB ratio.
    Very interesting...

According to the probables listed for this weekend's series against the Rays the winner is Hughes, he is slated to go against Hellickson tomorrow.
