Yankees Yankees Laying It On Detroit

After tensions got high last night the Yankees have opened up a 11-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth over Detroit. Cano just hit his 24th home run bringing him only 1 short of his career high which he got last year. Yanks tied the game in the 4th but have now score 9 runs on 6 hits in this 6th inning. The Tigers finally got the inning to come to an end. Porcello pitched pretty decent till this inning. Then everything went down hill for the Tigers pitching. Mark Schlereth's boy come in to only face 1 batter in which he walked him. The only good thing that happened for Detroit in this game is that Miggy hit another dinger.

Re: Yankees Laying It On Detroit

With the Yankees getting such a large lead today we were able to see the young switch hitting SS Eduardo Nunez come in for Jeter today. The kid looks like he has a pretty good glove but popped out in his first big league AB. Although, he has kept his BA right around .300 this season with 23 SB and 50 RBI. Gonna be fun to watch this kid develop. I'm excited to see this kid get some more playing time but at the same time I'm not because that will mean Jeter will be gone. Mitre almost made Girardi make another call to the pen today which would have not been good. The pen got worked a lot yesterday so it was good that only Mitre had to get on the bump. With not very many days off any more it was good that Mo and the other guys didn't have to work today. Mitre did look shaky at first but thankfully kind of settled down and finished out the game. Hughes went 6 innings today while picking up his 15th win making him only one shy of the Yankees ace CC.
