    Rangers Yankees @ Texas Series

The battle of 2 of the hottest teams in the MLB, both with good offenses. Hopefully the Yanks prevail.

    Re: Yankees @ Texas Series

    Monday, May 25
    Phil Hughes, RHP (2-2, 7.06) @ Matt Harrison, LHP (4-3, 4.71)

    Scouting Report:
Yankees: Hughes allowed three runs in five innings in an 11-4 victory over the Orioles in his last start. But he is still 1-2 with a 9.77 ERA in his last four starts since throwing six scoreless innings in his first game on April 28, a 4-0 victory over the Tigers. Left-handed hitters are batting .372 off him while right-handers are hitting .283. He is also averaging 5.4 walks per nine innings.

Rangers: Harrison had a four-game win streak and two-game complete-game streak snapped in his last start. He allowed three home runs against the Tigers after yielding four home runs in his previous seven starts combined this season. He surrendered five runs on nine hits, which tied a season high, in five innings. Harrison will make his second career start against the Yankees. He allowed two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings in a Rangers win last season. Johnny Damon is the only current Yankee with a career hit off Harrison.

    Tuesday, May 26
    Joba Chamberlain, RHP (2-1, 3.70) @ Kevin Millwood, RHP (4-4, 3.12)

    Scouting Report:
Yankees: Chamberlain is likely to make his next start, but he has yet to be confirmed for the start as he recovers from a bruised right knee suffered during his outing on Thursday against the Orioles. In the first inning, Baltimore outfielder Adam Jones rocketed a line drive up the middle that hit Chamberlain and forced him out of the game after just two-thirds of an inning and 14 pitches. Since the injury, Chamberlain has maintained that he will make his next start.

Rangers: Last time out against the Tigers, Millwood surrendered a home run for the first time in three starts. In fact, he gave up two. The righty allowed four runs on six hits in eight innings. Millwood has struggled in his career against the Yankees. In seven starts, he's 1-4 with a 4.46 ERA. He faced the Bombers once last season, allowing one earned run on five hits in five innings. Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher has hit .400 (10-for-25) off Millwood with three home runs and seven RBIs.

    Wednesday, May 27
    A.J. Burnett, RHP (2-2, 5.28) @ Derek Holland, LHP (1-1, 4.82)

    Scouting Report:
Yankees: Burnett, like so many so far this season, was reminded how tough it is to pitch at the new Yankee Stadium in last start. He tied a career high by allowing three home runs to the Phillies on Friday, including one on the first pitch of the game to shortstop Jimmy Rollins. Burnett exited after six innings, having allowed five runs -- all on homers -- and took the loss.

Rangers: Holland, who was called up in April, opposed the Astros in his first Major League start and threw five scoreless innings before giving up a three-run home run to Lance Berkman in the sixth. The Rangers won the game in extra innings. Holland had a 4.85 ERA in seven relief appearances before being moved into the rotation. He has a 10.13 ERA in three appearances at the Ballpark.

    Re: Yankees @ Texas Series

I like our chances this series. Granted, Hughes has only the recent start to hang his hat on, but pitchers get streaky too...

We need to pray that Joba's leg is alright. Despite the scouting report, I gather that Millwood is bringing his A-Game.

If we lose the last game, AJ Burnett is cursed or Holland is drity. There's no other excuse.
