Rumor FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, No!

Yankees offer Burnett five-year deal | FanNation
LAS VEGAS -- The Yankees are believed to have offered free-agent starter A.J. Burnett a five-year, $80 million deal. The Atlanta Braves are considered the other main contender for Burnett, and they offered him a four-year contract for $60 million with a vesting option for a fifth year. It isn't known yet whether Atlanta will match the Yankees' big bid. The Nationals, Orioles, Blue Jays and Red Sox also have spoken to Burnett's camp at the meetings.

The Yankees also remain very interested in free-agent starter Derek Lowe, having talked to him about a four-year, $60 million deal. Additionally, the Yankees have been reviewing the medical records of Ben Sheets and are interested in him, depending on how the negotiations go with Burnett and Lowe, and are still considering bringing Andy Pettitte back to the Bronx for another season.

AJ Burnett for 5 years and $80 million...this would be the second worst deal in the history of the New York Yankees. What a waste of money. I'm cringing just thinking about it. This makes 4/66 for Lowe seem like a steal. PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN!

I couldn't agree more, this is ridiculous and an absolutely horrible investment. Make it go away!!

Same deal on 4 years to Lowe. Bad idea.

His health. Never has he pitched 200 innings 2 years in a row. First time he pitched over 200, he pitched 23 the next year. Next time he pitched 200, he went 130 the next. Last year, he pitched 200 innings. I'm scared

Derek Lowe is more durable, has had success in the postseason, has had plenty of success in the AL, and is just plain better.

If you're going to overpay for someone, make it him.

I've seen a rumor that the Yankees have offered a 5-year, $91.5M deal to Burnett. As has been said, they would get about 3 1/2 years out of him, making the effective salary $26.5M per year. He is not worth that big an investment.
Here is a story from ESPN:

    Big Z money for Burnett?

The Braves will guarantee A.J. Burnett a fifth year, and the Yankees are now going to revise their offer.
There's a good chance that the bidding will exceed the total value of Carlos Zambrano's five-year, $91.5 million extension with the Cubs.

This deal will happen. Nothing like spending money foolishly. CC was a good signing, but who is going to play 1st base and you still need a bat in the outfield! I would have thought there would have been interest in Texeria. Sounds like Boston will make a serious run at him. But they must beat the Nationals offer of 7 years and 160 million dollars.

I still hate the Yankee's but with CC in your rotation things look good in ny pitching wise.

Swisher's playing first, they've pretty much committed to him there...as for the outfield? I agree we could use another bat but I don't see it happening...would be nice to get a CF that can actually hit though.
