    The Glory Days

I found some old cards, these are from the dark days of the Yankees in the late 80s-early 90s. It sucked losing but it used to be alot of fun as a kid going to the games and being able to get any seat I wanted.

2 of the 3 players we acquired for Rickey Henderson from small market Oakland(see we used to get fleeced too at the trade deadline), Luis Polonia was the 3rd:

    Eric (Ker)Plunk

    Greg Cadaret

Bucky was an up and coming Manager

Deion was an exciting, yet bad, player

What a powerful lineup that featured Steve "Bye Bye" Balboni in his 2nd stint w/ the Yanks

Jesse Barfield, who we traded Al Leiter to get

Young, powerful Bob Geren behind the plate

The Jewel of the system, Hensley "Bam Bam" Meulens

Hal Morris was a good, young prospect but never got his shot here b/c of #23

I can't put into words what Alvaro Espinoza meant to this franchise

Joel Skinner used his days as a Yankee great to eventually become a big league Manager for the Indians

Last but not least(I have more but last for the dark days) was a ray of sunshine that helped turn is back into the a big team team and led to the latest dynasty in Yankee history.

We traded Roberto Kelly to Cincy for Paul O'Neill

Here is a young Bernabe Williams who thankfully didn't learn a thing from Mel Hall(sorry I don't have a Hall card)

I remember being pissed about that trade. I liked Roberto Kelly!

I saw Jesse Barfield hit a homerun at Heritage Park for the AA Albany-Colonie Yankees. He was on a rehab assignment. Those game were fun when I was a kid. I got to see Bernie Williams, and some scrub middle-infielder named Derek Jeter among others.

Now I wish I saved some of those programs!

And lets not forget our favorite second string Firstbaseman of that era. The Legendary Kevin Maas!
