MO To Have Surgery

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Mariano Rivera would have surgery to remove calcification over the AC joint in his throwing shoulder.
Rivera is expected to be ready for the beginning of spring training, though he'll have his usual relaxed workload in March.

Never heard of this type of surgery so don't know who to base it off of. Doesn't sound like a serious surgery. Maybe he should keep it since he had a great season and really bounced back after last year.

Sounds like he's just having some of the wear and tear removed from his shoulder. It shouldn't have a great impact on his stuff. At his age though, any surgery on his shoulder is scary for Yankee fans.

Mets medical director Dr. David Altchek shaved a calcified joint on the top of the shoulder. Rivera, who turns 39 next month, will likely have a relatively light workload next spring, but that's typical.

Yankees better hope MO can recover like he should but at that age who knows. I think he will be fine and he better be because the Yanks are giving Joba another shot at starter

Yeah with a history of arm problemsGuy couldn't even finish the season. Be smart, be wise! Have the best setup to closer combo in baseball!!

The argument where I said it was risky to move him to starter because of potential arm problems? That argument? I mean because he did hurt his arm and couldn't finish. I thought after that argument you would have seen the light. He is better suited as a setup guy. I'll take the 1.53 ERA relieving Joba since he is more durable.
