I'm not saying he should have thrown behind him...I'm saying every pitcher should do this when they get him out:

edit: right, so if they're not going to fine them, then the players need to settle it...let's see how often Manny does it when it's done to him every night.

I bet ya Manny would still do it and probably even do it more overboard when he hits one out just for spite.

If anyone has followed Farnsworth career knows he's no where near accurate. I think Farnsworth was throwing at him but not necessarily at his head. Point is he didn't hit anyone, wasn't ejected and a pitcher in the game before actually DID hit someone. A fine is OK, suspensions are not.

Manny deserves to be hit as many times as it takes. If he doesn't get that players don't like his antics, starting plunking Drew!

IDK pitchers have enough control to throw a strike right down the center of the plate 99% of the time when they have a 3 ball count against them. These are major league quality pitchers we are talking about they have control over there pitches for the most part. Yes there mechanics can get off sometimes, but for the most part they know exactly where there are pitching the ball.

Yes, Farnsworth has less control, but the point is that when you throw in on a guy, you don't throw high. You throw at the ribs or the thighs. He didn't miss THAT badly, he had to have been aiming high to miss that high

this isn't related to this incident, but to throwing at someone's head. there is an instance when a pitcher is supposed to...let's see who knows when...go!

The only time I have ever heard another pitcher throwing at someones head is when a player had been thrown at the previous inning or earlier in the game.

that's not what I'm referring to though...it's more strategic than retaliatory

Hmmmm, Strategic move to hit someone in the head. I can say I have never heard of that before.

sort of...it has to do with a suicide squeeze. if the batter squares around before the pitcher releases the ball, the pitcher is supposed to throw it at his head. why? because no one is going to take a ball to the head...the batter ducks or whatever and the catcher catches the ball. The runner gets tagged out in a run down or just out at the plate. that's how I learned it in high school...it actually happened once and worked just like I described.

Maybe they should call it the HOMICIDE squeeze since the pitcher is throwing at your head and could kill the batter if they hit them.
