2 in a row! and we shaved 2 games off of Boston's WC lead. Hopefully this continues and we get on a real winning streak.

Great job to sweep Baltimore, we still have a little life left. Baltimore has handled us pretty well this year until this weekend. obviously we need at worst a series win against Boston coming up this week. The bats are starting to hit, we couldn't hit cabrera this year until yesterday so I'm definitely feeling better. At least we are going out w/ a fight if we don't make it.

This series with Boston is probably our last chance...I'll be honest, we need a sweep or else.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

A sweep would be great but at worst we need to take 2 of 3. If we take 2 of 3 we are 4 back and still very much in it.

Oh well, the 2008 season is basically over. It was a great run of postseason appearances and unfortunately Yankee Stadium will close in the reg season instead of the postseason like it should.

We have a little bit of life after yesterday, had we lost we would have been all but dead. We still are likely dead but the Sox had a chance to finish us off. Hopefully we can make them pay for that.

Unfortunately our wins now are helping the Sox catch Tampa.

    Yankees want Cashman back:

"Hal and Hank Steinbrenner agree they want Brian Cashman back as the Yankees' GM, The Post has learned.

According to a MLB source, the Steinbrenner family has decided Cashman is the man to lead the organization back from a nightmarish season that will end with the Yankees missing playoffs for the first time since 1993.

Cashman, who last week shouldered the blame for the dismal season, met with Hal and Hank yesterday at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. No contract offer was made but, according to the source, Cashman is aware of the Steinbrenners' wishes.

Talking before last night's 7-2 win over the division-leading Rays, Cashman refused comment on the Steinbrenners wanting him back. All year Cashman has said he will deal with his future in the offseason. Right now, he said the focus is on pulling off a miracle this season.

"We have gone through the frustration and disappointment," Cashman said. "Now the focus is on the small things. Try and pick up a game a week and get to Fenway Park and make that series meaningful."

Cashman, 41,is in the final season of a three-year deal worth $5.4 million, and he understands the mountain his club has to climb. "

I hope Cashman is back too, I think he's done a good job in recent years rebuilding the farm system. I think we are close to being really good again. We'll see what happens.

This is a very strange time, this is really the first time since '92 we haven't been in a pennant race. I'd rather just see some young guys play from here on out.

First off, why wouldn't you wait until your team gets in before you start crowing and here's a little tidbit for you. The 13 straight years we made the postseason from 1995-2007 was 4 more than the Twins from the time they moved to Minnesota. 13 playoffs apps in 13 years or 9 in almost 50- which is better? Move along and worry about your team making the postseason instead of our team not making the postseason.

It sure is great to be a Yankee fan, even when they stink fans are still consumed w/ them.

I forgot to mention that Jeter tied Lou Gehrig for the all-time Yankee Stadium his leader and his next hit he will become the leader. he went 0-4 last night but still has the rest of the week to get at least 1 more hit. That's pretty much all we have to look forward to.

Another bright spot was that Aceves pitched well again. Maybe we have something w/ this guy? he's giving up 4 ER in 20 IP. Phil Coke had another scoreless inning, in 8 innings of relief he's given up just 2 hits and zero ER.
