Cashman: Lots of interest in Melky

"Even before Nashville, I can't tell you how many clubs have called me about Melky, because he's under [contractual] control and he's a switch-hitter who can run, throw and obviously hit," Cashman said. "He's someone I certainly receive a lot of calls over."
Best player in baseball. End of story.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

There are no other logical points that could possibly be made.

What are the papers saying in New York about Santana? Where does the deal stand? What are the current 3 players your club is offering?

I read today that we Twins want kennedy - Hughes - Cabrera, is this the hold up to the deal?

Oh one more thing I am pissed that this deal is taking so damn long. Smith I think is on the right track, but how long is long enough before we pull the trigger and make the deal!

He won't... Melky Cabrera is the face of this franchise. He will never leave.

Re: Cashman: Lots of interest in Melky

The Twins and Yankees reached what one person called an "impasse'' shortly before midnight CST. The Twins were asking that the Yankees include either pitcher Ian Kennedy or a tandem of pitching prospect Alan Horne and outfield prospect Austin Jackson in their package with pitcher Phil Hughes and outfielder Melky Cabrera.

If the Yankees don't want to deal for Johan, they will be looking up at the Red Sox in the standings for several years. Could you imagine a rotation better than Beckett/Santana/DiceK?

Matsuzaka is irrelevant, that top 2 would be amazing and almost impossible to beat but Matsuzaka has shown us very little to be considered a top pitcher.

Can you imagine a rotation (if they max out potential) of:

    Hughes, Kennedy, Chamberlain?

    That's right.

Add in Chien Ming Wang too.

Oh yeah, if everything works on that front the Sox will have a great rotation filled with pitchers with #1 stuff: Beckett, Santanamania, DiceK, Buccholz. That's pretty tough stuff. It should be nice for Sox fans.

Keep imagining!!!!! How often do players reach their full potential. The chances of all three of those guys being as good as they are being touted are slim to none. I don't care what 3 prospects you said "if they max out potential", I would still call it highly unlikely. How's that old saying go???? "An egg in the basket...."
