    The Yankees have offered contracts to closer Mariano Rivera and catcher Jorge Posada to try to retain the free agents before they can negotiate with other teams next week.     The Yankees made proposals of three years and about $40 million to both players, the New York Times reported, without citing anyone.
    The Yankees' exclusive window to sign Rivera and Posada ends Monday. The following day, any team can make offers to free agents.
    Cashman said he is in contact with the players and their agents and having "fluid conversations."
    According to a report in the Baltimore Sun, the Yankees might have interest in trading for the Orioles' Miguel Tejada to replace Alex Rodriguez at third base.
    "We have to be open-minded to anything," Orioles president Andy MacPhail said, speaking in general about a possible deal.

    Yanls closing in on re-signing Jorge:

    I hope the Yanks were smart on the Jorge deal. Probably weren't because we have no one to replace him, but we'll once (if) he signs.
