    A-Rod Opts Out

    SI.com - MLB - Jon Heyman: A-Rod to opt out of contract - Sunday October 28, 2007 10:41PM

    According to SI.

Adios A-Rod. Some will say we never deserved you, and I will say maybe not, but I hope you find what you're looking for out on the market.

BTW, we can offer him arbitration and get some draft picks out of him, so all is not lost friends. ;-)

**** A-rod is right. Mike Lowell will be wearing the pinstripes next year.

It's all about the cash for him.

This doesn't surprise me, and he'll be an Angel like I've said for a long time.

Now we better go as hard as possible after Lowell.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

If ARod signs with the Angels and plays well there, they will be a very tough team next season.
The Yankees will have to write a big check to bring a 3B in, but Lowell should be available to them.

I'm not so sure about Lowell guys. Fenway is his life support. Just look at those home-road splits.

Who else are we gonna get? Lowell is the best option out there.

I'll bet the Twins would trade Nick Punto for Joba Chamberlin, straight up.

Joe Crede has been rumored to be available coming off surgery. He will play a better third defensively and has pop in the bat. No one is going to replace Arod's numbers but you can get someone with pop who plays a good third. Yankees need to get away from thinking offense is everything. Pitching and defense is what won them the titles in the late 90's, not offense and......offense.

As a Twins fan, I'd like that deal alot. The Twins might even throw Boof Bonser in to make the deal fair, but the Yankees would have to pick up all of the salaries for all of the players in the deal. Fair enough?

You're right, and I still say Lowell because he's an excellent defensive 3B.

Don't particularly want Lowell or any FA. I think Betemit should be given a shot and I think Girardi will want to do just that.

I say we ****ed up in not giving Lamb a shot.

Nice of A-Rod to opt out the day the World Series is won, thus stealing the headlines. I love it.

    Re: A-Rod Opts Out

I think if the NY fans didn't boo him last year, NY media didn't make bid deal about his 2 year playoff struggles, and if Jeter the captain of the team defended him last year, I'm pretty sure he might have not opted out.

But based on those circumstances I dont blame him one bit for opting out.
