Looks like Rivera accepts the deal:
ESPN - Source: Rivera accepts Yanks' 3-year, $45M offer - MLB
As Alex Rodriguez and the team nears a new deal, Mariano Rivera has accepted the Yankees' three-year, $45 million contract offer on Monday afternoon, a source told ESPN.com's Buster Olney.
I think he will continue to decline and think the Yankees should have gone with Chamberlain as their new closer.

I think its good that Mo is coming back. That will give us a shot to see Joba fill a spot in the rotation that we so desperatly need.

Agreed. Closers, unless dominant, are secondary features of a winning team.

According to a Yankees official, who asked not to be identified because he is not directly involved in the decision, the Yankees have inquired about Chicago White Sox closer Bobby Jenks to set up Rivera.

Jenks had a strong season (2.77 ERA, 40 saves in 46 chances and a record-tying streak of 41 consecutive batters retired), but a deal is considered a long shot. The Yankees’ best hope is that the White Sox fail to sign free-agent centerfielder Torii Hunter and thus ask the Yankees for Melky Cabrera or Johnny Damon in a trade.

Would the Sox really give up their best reliever for Damon? I don't think so but I would love for this to happen.

No, no and hell no. White Sox have no one that could close if Jenks left. Plus no one would trade anything that valuable for Johnny Damon.

The Yankees would be wise to make a deal like this. Their bullpen has not been "stellar" recently, and Mo has begun the inevitable decline that all pitchers go through this late in their careers. The Yankees need another possible closer very badly.

Sure the Yankees would do this all day. Point is it would be dumb for the Sox to do this.

I wouldn't doubt Kenny Williams to make a silly trade.

I don't think any GM is dumb enough to give up their closer who makes next to nothing for a declining DH (can we still call him an OFer) who makes $17 mil. It doesn't make business or baseball sense.

Shelley Duncan was hospitalized because of a blood clot in his arm, according to the New York Post.
The Yankees aren't talking and they've asked Duncan's family not to comment publicly on the matter, so it seems like there's more to this story. Duncan is no longer in the hospital, but he didn't make a scheduled appearance with Joba Chamberlain in New Rochelle on Monday.

Jorge Posada said he has been talking with Andy Pettitte once a week and that the left-hander is leaning towards retirement.
We'll believe it when we see it. The Yankees haven't been pressing Pettitte for a decision on his status. A one-year, $16 million contract remains on the table if he wants to return for another season.
You must really hate your job if you turn down $16 mil.

The White Sox would be stupid if they traded Jenks for Damon or Cabrera.

The Yankees offered arbitration to pitchers Andy Pettitte and Luis Vizcaino. They also offered it to third baseman Alex Rodriguez and closer Mariano Rivera, who have agreed to contracts but have not finalized their deals. New York didn't offer arbitration to Roger Clemens, who may retire.
Bring Pettitte back...No matter what it takes..

I don't think it is a matter of money.
