As the Yankees and Blue Jays closed out their three-game series last night, there was one certainty before the game began; Alex Rodriguez would not be thrown at for a third straight game. That's because A-Rod was out of the starting lineup, thanks to a sore right calf that came courtesy of being drilled by Josh Towers in the third inning Tuesday night. The injury is not considered serious, and he should be fine to play tomorrow night when the Yankees kick off a crucial three-game series in Cleveland.
Rodriguez missed his second game of the season, and Joe Torre was unsure whether the MVP candidate would even be available for pinch-hitting. A-Rod sat out July 5 with a hamstring injury, but has suited up in each of the Yankees' other 112 games.
