PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The New York Yankees released pitcher Scott Erickson and sent infielder Nick Green outright to Triple-A Columbus on Monday.

Erickson, a former 20-game winner, was 0-0 with a 7.94 ERA in nine relief appearances with New York. He was designated for assignment on June 11.

Green appeared in just one game for the Yankees and did not bat. He cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last Thursday.

The 38-year-old Erickson also has pitched for Minnesota, Baltimore, the New York Mets, Texas and Los Angeles Dodgers, going 142-136 with a 4.59 ERA in 15 seasons.
