Mets placed SS Jose Reyes on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 3, with a left hamstring strain.
It's official. The roster move rules Reyes out for the All-Star Game, as well as the first series of the second half of the season against the Phillies. Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes reported Thursday that Reyes was told to rest for three weeks, though that information wasn't confirmed by the team. The Mets have won their last four games, but the loss of Reyes is bound to catch up with them eventually.
The first half MVP goes down killing just about any chance of the Mets competing for the WC going forward. This should lead to the Mets finally being sellers. Beltran and Krod are the most attractive pieces but the Mets will certainly have to eat some money. Looks like Wilpon was right about him and his legs.
