Francisco Rodriguez surrendered to authorities Wednesday morning and was charged with criminal contempt for violating a court order of protection.
He recently violated the order of protection by sending 56 text messages to his ex-girlfriend. Rodriguez was freed on a $7,500 bond and ordered to return to court on October 7. The new charge carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison. Judge Ira H. Margulis also issued an additional order of protection for Daian Pena, who is the mother of Rodriguez's twins. Needless to say, baseball is the least of his worries right now.
