Mets New York Mets vs Florida Marlins: April 5th-April 8th

    Johan Santana (0-0, -.--) vs Josh Johnson (0-0, -.--)
    John Maine (0-0, -.--) vs Ricky Nolasco (0-0, -.--)
    Jonathan Niese (0-0, -.--) vs Nate Robertson (0-0, -.--)

Key to the series is to get good pitching. The offense should come, I have faith in Wright, Bay, Francoeur, and even Jacobs, but the pitching needs to prove themselves. The bullpen needs to be consistent all year. Hopefully we can beat Josh Johnson for the first time in a regular season game.

    Let's Go Mets!

The Mets will keep the lineup the same tonight. I guess the theory is "if it's not broke (yet), don't fix it.

If you ask me, the idea of Jacobs and Cora getting more AB's than Bay is dumb, but it worked Monday.

Maine is 5-2 with a 3.12 ERA in 10 career starts against the Marlins.

Ricky Nolasco will start for the Marlins. Nolasco was 11-4 with a 3.82 ERA in his final 22 starts for the Marlins last season. He is 3-6 with a 5.99 ERA in 13 appearances against the Mets, during which David Wright is batting .361 with three home runs against him.

Should be a fun game, but the pitching edge is decidedly in the corner of the Marlins.

Maine was hit around quite a bit, as well as the Mets pen, with 16 hits for the Marlins but the score is tied and going to extras. Nolasco had a solid 6 IP start to the season. Uggla and Hanley Ramirez are having nice games as well for anyone who has them in fantasy.

Nolasco was solid, but I'm not buying into him unless he's doing that against the cardinals, phillies, rockies, or etc. Jury is out until then in my eyes.

Marlins are going to have so much fun with their pen this season, they might attract a following like the mets did the past two seasons. O_O

The Mets lineup isn't bad, their weakness is pitching. Nolasco was solid, but he needs to continue doing this. I wouldn't DISCOUNT his performance because of the Mets (like I said, they are solid offensively), but he needs to be consistently like this.

The Mets basically denied the Marlins attempts to hand them this game, kinda depressing. Hopefully we can go out there tonight and take the rubber game of this series.

    Taken from Metsblog.com:

    Here is tonight’s starting lineup:

    CF Angel Pagan
    2B Luis Castillo
    3B David Wright
    LF Jason Bay
    RF Jeff Francoeur
    1B Fernando Tatis
    C Rod Barajas
    SS Ruben Tejada
    SP Jon Niese

In five starts before injuring his hamstring last season, Niese was 1-1 with a 4.21 ERA. Tonight will be his first ever, regular-season start against the Marlins.

LHP Nate Robertson will start for the Marlins. Robertson has not faced the Mets since 2004. Luis Castillo is batting .350 in 20 at bats against Robertson.

Pitching matchup is probably close, not sure which pitcher has the advantage. I like seeing Pagan in the lineup finally, and getting Cora out of there. Hopefully the Mets will rebound and take the rubber game. Let's Go Mets!

Why is Fatis getting all these starts suddenly?
Get Jacobs back in there, stat! Fatis is terrible.

Umm, this is Tatis' first start...Jacobs started both of the first two games. And they're both terrible.
