Re: NY Mets "Walking Wounded" Injury Update Thread
According to Omar Minaya:
Carlos Delgado is swinging off a tee, and “coming along good.”
Carlos Beltran is riding a stationary bike, he is working in the pool, and will onbviosuly not play in the all star game.
Jose Reyes was back in NYC today to get a cortisone shot, and will now wait for that to
take affect, and “hopefully this will get him started again,” and, “allevite discomfort.”
Reyes’s biggest hurdle is “acceleration.”
John Maine threw from flat ground today.
Fernando Martinez had an MRI, which showed swelling in his right knee, but that has disappaited and he is able to play in tonight’s game.
JJ Putz is still rehabbing, but not throwing yet.
Billy Wagner is throwing to live hitters and is “coming along good,” though the team is still projecting a late-August, early-September return.
In the end, Minaya said Delgado is still looking at returning around August 15, or “in that range,” ad he hopes to see the other guys, including Maine, back before that.
Re: NY Mets "Walking Wounded" Injury Update Thread
When they putting Daniel Murphy's arm on the DL.
Re: NY Mets "Walking Wounded" Injury Update Thread
He's been fine at 1B al, maybe they should put your career on the dl after that piece of shit movie 88 minutes.....
Re: NY Mets "Walking Wounded" Injury Update Thread
The Mets have put Fernando Martinez on the 15–day disabled list with inflammation in his right knee.
Argenis Reyes has been promoted from Triple-A.
...We're now at the point where our most of our stars have gotten hurt. Then, a significant amount of backups went down, now the guys who backed up the backups are getting hurt. UNBELIEVABLE!
Re: NY Mets "Walking Wounded" Injury Update Thread
Gary Sheffield left last night’s game due to an apparent injury to his hamstring.
However, it was later reported that Sheffield had a cramp in his leg and it is not expected to be serious.
Finally, an injury that isn’t bad, but I guess you never know anymore…
Meanwhile, Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post is reporting that JJ Putz played catch yesterday for the first time since elbow surgery.
Also, Jose Reyes apparently did not want to run in Port St. Lucie yesterday after pointing to his hamstring, but the Mets do not feel it was a setback as the plan was to make it more of a lighter day.
Sure, he just decided last minute that he didn't want to run. Sounds more like either tenativeness, which would be bad, or an actual setback, which would be worse.
Re: NY Mets "Walking Wounded" Injury Update Thread
Nieve went down with a quad strain. That's unfortunate for the mets, cause Tim Redding had to pitch.

Mets better hope it's just a strain. Knowing the Mets, it could be anything from a cramp to a tear. This team has just gotten to the point of being SO embarrassing when it comes to injuries. I just don't believe how many guys can possibly get hurt this year...
Re: NY Mets "Walking Wounded" Injury Update Thread
Alex Cora, of all players, with the defensive gaff today. Seriously, it's even spread to him. I think the mets need an exorcism.

To be fair, Alex Cora is playing with a torn tendon in his thumb....
But I don't even know what this team can do. Every facet of the game....every player....everything is going wrong.
Re: NY Mets "Walking Wounded" Injury Update Thread
Fernando Nieve is officially placed on the 15 day DL. OF Cory Sullivan is called up from AAA.
Any Rockies fans have any scouting report on Sullivan for me?
Re: NY Mets "Walking Wounded" Injury Update Thread
He doesn't draw walks.
Cory Sullivan - New York Mets - Career Statistics - MLB - Yahoo! Sports
Good rookie year considering. Then struck out 100 times in less than 400 abs.
Re: NY Mets "Walking Wounded" Injury Update Thread
At this point if he can give the Mets his career average of .279/.330/.391, I'll be ecstatic.

Nieve has a torn quad muscle, and will miss at least 6 weeks. Just great.

The curse of mishandling Doc Gooden(never punished him when they knew he was using coke and also overworked him), the curse of '86(a team of alleged assholes that won, but will never win again), or the curse of letting Mike Piazza(guy who did everything for the franchise) leave via FA without even a good offer?
