    Mets Mets vs. Padres 4/13-4/16

    Pitching Matchups:

    Walter Silva (0-0, 3.60) vs. Mike Pelfrey (1-0, 7.20)
    Kevin Correia (0-0, 4.50) vs. Oliver Perez (0-1, 16.62)
    Jake Peavy (1-1, 3.52) vs. John Maine (0-0, 3.60)

Pelfrey should be better than he was in his first outing, as he showed signs of settling in after 4 runs in the first inning. Perez...well, he can't be any worse. Hopefully he can be decent. And Maine looked really good in his first outing. I heard earlier that we would miss Peavy, so the third matchup may be wrong, but either way, I see us winning 2 of 3.

    Shawn Hill or Jake Peavy?

Seems like an easy decision to me.

Well I had heard that Peavy was not going to start. I don't know when he last pitched, I'm just saying I had heard one thing, but mlb.com said something different and I don't know which is correct.

He pitched 8 1/3 innings of 3 run ball yesterday and will be on regular rest for Thursday. Opening up CitiField!

Leo, what kind of scouting report can you give me on Walter Silva. I've never heard of him. What kind of pitcher is he, and how much of a threat is he to ruin the opening of MY new ballpark.

I don't really know much about him other than that he went 5 innings, gave up 2 ERs, struck out 1 and walked 4 in his first outing this year.

Interesting. I'm looking forward to tonight, I can't wait to see the new stadium. Hopefully Pelfrey looks better than his first time out. Leo, was it you or DK(or someone else?) who picked the Padres to sweep?

    I didn't make that vote.

    My guess would be DK.

Yes. I went purely by pitching matchups. Silva, Correia and Peavy have been better than Pelfrey, Perez and Maine respectively.

Tom Seaver just threw a strike to open up Citi Field!! Wouldn't have it any other way.

If I didn't know better I'd swear the Padres were pretty good this year.

Pelfrey is not locating his pitches at all. The offense is looking uninterested. The Padres are good, but the Mets are just not playing like they should be.

    What's up with right field?

I'm at work and am only looking at an outline of the dimensions, but it looks like the opposite of PetCo's short porch, curving in instead of out.

There is an overhang that hangs 8 feet onto the field over the lower area....
