Re: Hamels calls Mets Choke Artists
I've always considered "choke" a special term. A term that's saved for big time examples of a team completely and utterly collapsing while holding a huge advantage. The Cubs lost a series that they (on paper) should have won....but I'm not sure I'd call it a choke. Feel free to disagree, but I think that their loss was just a loss, not a choke.
Re: Hamels calls Mets Choke Artists
The Cubs were highly favored in the NL and the only team anyone thought had any sort of realistic shot against any of the AL teams.
They were facing a team that barely made it out of a crappy division that they were "supposed" to cake walk over and got swept.
That's choking, even by your definition.
Re: Hamels calls Mets Choke Artists
Yes, the completely should have won, but they never really looked good in the series. From day 1, the Dodgers beat them up. I dunno, I just don't view it as a choke, more of a blown opportunity.

Exactly.
They choked.

100% agree with Hamels. I'm starting to really like this guy.
Re: Hamels calls Mets Choke Artists
The Mets choked.
The Cubs choked.
There is no argument otherwise.
