    Rumor KC's Guillen Available

The Royals are quietly shopping righthanded-hitting outfielder Jose Guillen, a terrific talent who seems to have the knack for wearing out his welcome pretty quickly. Guilen is said to be at odds with Royals manager Trey Hillman, who just completed his first year at the helm in Kansas City.

Guillen can hit -- 20 home runs, 97 RBIs and a .264 batting average last year -- but the problem is his $12 million salary and two years remaining on his contract.
This from SI's John Heyman. Sounds like the Royals wanna dump $$. Unfortunately, that would probably preclude the previously rumored trade of Guillen for Luis Castillo. Unless, the Royals are so unnerved by Guillen's attitude problems that they will trade him at any costs.

Note: Previously, Joel Sherman of the NY Post reported that Guillen for Castillo had been discussed this past season, and could be rehashed this offseason. See below:

I don't see how the Royals can let him go. They are starved for offense and he is the biggest bat in that lineup.

Agreed, but I'm surprised by the amount of rumors that they're shopping him.
