    Mets More Cheap Relief

Mets signed RHP Al Reyes to a Minor League contract.
Reyes will make a couple minor league appearances to get back in shape before being promoted to help the big league club. He had a 4.37 ERA with a 19/10 K/BB ratio in Tampa Bay this year, but he has a 3.82 career ERA and saved 26 games for the Rays last season. He could be in the mix at closer before long.
I actually think this move will help the Mets. Reyes is a former closer and a lefty veteran. Mets need all the help they can get. Hopefully for the Mets, Reyes can go to the minors and get things figured out before the September callups.

This is a great move. Adding Reyes and Ayala, will not only bring in some quality veteran arms, but hopefully tell the current relievers that they need to get their act together or else they may be on the way out...

Competition within is the best way to get great results.

Exactly. I mean, at this point we have added a couple quality arms who can provide innings, and competition for Heilman, Sanchez, Schoeneweis, Smith, Feliciano, etc.
