Injury Church Cleared to Begin Rehab

Ryan Church, who was having an All-Star season prior to suffering his second concussion, has finally been cleared to begin rehab. Church suffered one concussion in spring training when he collided with teammate Marlon Anderson, and a second when he was kicked in the head while trying to break up a double play(courtesy of Yunel Escobar). Church could be the key for the Mets, the corner outfielder that they failed to pick up at the trade deadline.

Does anyone else still think Church can come back, and be a good enough hitter to help this team make the playoffs?

Re: Church Cleared to Begin Rehab

Ryan Church began his rehab yesterday, playing a game in New Orleans as a DH. Church went 1 for 3. Word is he will be able to play the outfield before the end of the week, and may be ready to return to the Mets by the end of the following week. That would be a huge addition for this offense. Unfortunately, Church can't close out games on the mound...

According to a report on WFAN-New York, Ryan Church appeared in his second rehab game yesterday for AAA New Orleans Zephyrs. He went 0 for 2, but did play 5 innings in the outfield. He is said to be prepared to start again tomorrow, possibly returning by next week.
