    D'Backs Trade for Green discussed

    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/story/443332p-373386c.html

New York Daily News: "The East Valley (Ariz.) Tribune reported that the Diamondbacks planned to approach outfielder Shawn Green to waive his no-trade clause to be dealt to the Mets."

If the deal did happen, Green, who has 10 home runs, 49 RBI and is hitting .281 this season, would be an upgrade in right, as rookie Lastings Milledge has struggled since he was recalled after Xavier Nady was shipped to Pittsburgh.

Could Lastings be on his way out already?

i doubt milledge is part of the deal. arizona is pretty stacked with outfield prospects... if this happens, theyll probably grab a few b prospects from single a.

**** that shit. The Dbacks deserve to be stuck with Green's extended contract after the Dodgers were forced to pay $10 million to get rid of him.

I would love for the Mets to acquire another overpaid, injury prone player.

Heh, Minaya wouldn't trade Milledge for Manny Ramirez, why for Shawn Green?

I agree, I highly doubt that the Mets are giving up Lastings.... He is still learning the game and his role.... On the flip side though, I guess crazier things have happened in the past.

Well, Milledge is on the 40 man roster therefore he would also have to clear waivers. Which Im sure every baseball team would place a claim faster than you can say the word "claim".

But even at that, it's not even worth bringing up his name in a deal for Shawn Green because it's like Fishercat said, if the Mets weren't going to deal him for Manny, there's no way they would even consider dealing him for Green.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

They aren't going to trade him for Green. It just puts Milledge out of a job come September call-ups. Mets don't need Green and his mdeiocre power and defense.
