If you're telling me to take Hinson at 29 in a 6 year deal worth 20 mil per, or Pete Rose at 39 in a 3 year deal worth 15 mil per I will be taking Hinson every time, and I'm sure Mach would as well.

id rather have hinson in that instance too. i strongly considered capping myself out and throwing hinson an 8x19 offer... whereas i went 2x4.5 to rose. i felt i was lowballing rose a little, but not by 10.5 mil.

the only reason i didnt go in on hinson... is a. i needed the payroll room to get crest locked up to an extension this season, hes loyal but hes still probably gonna want 15+, b. i wanna be a major major player next offseason [or getting carlton, puig, gotlander and chauvin back to more respectable deals... puig especially] and c. i didnt wanna teach josh gibson a new position.

The only thing I don't like about the Rose deal is the third year. Funny thing is, his worst signing was probably Madlock.

Hinson is solid but 20×6 is a lot.

You can't justify a bad contract by pointing out others.

I don't hate the Hinson deal. It is a little overpriced, but she's still been solid her entire career and while the ratings aren't overwhelmingly elite she's an 8 or better in all 5 categories and is also very good defensively.
