and that's why you didn't get him while I'll still have max cash at the end of the year.
Being the Yankees is fun.
Re: 2058 Free Agency round 1 signings
it might be more fun if you actually made the playoffs once in a while.

do tell, how would you have played things? I'm all ears, Mr Brains. Pay less money for FA and likely not get them and accomplish what by that? Would I have more money? No. Would I have a better pick? No. So then what?

you probably couldve gotten day, rose and madlock all for less than you paid. but you did learn well from cashman. overpay by 8 mil a year, make sure we get them!

and I ask you, so what? There's a cash cap at 50MM. I pretty much always hit it. The extra money just disappears, it's not like it rolls over, or it hurts me or some such. That's not money that goes into my pockets or anything else, it's just gone. Are the contracts I gave out absolutely horrible? No doubt. Does it matter at all? Not one bit.

If they're like real Yankee fans, I'm not terribly saddened.
Says one Yankee fan to another.

100% true. youre playing to your strengths, cant knock you for using the advantages given to you. as for the so what... day was my fall back plan if i didnt get darvish dammit! realistically, i dont care that you spend stupid amounts of money... i just cant wait for the time when anaheim can do the same.

agreed, that was actually my point with the statement. you missed the playoffs the last 2 years, right? kind of a what have you done for me lately type of deal, that comes with being a yankee fan.

I realize it's not the most cost efficient or along those lines, but, that doesn't really matter. I'm not tricking myself into thinking I'm a contender now. I'm not refusing to trade top pieces. I'm just trying to make sure my fan interest stays as high as possible while maybe catching a huge lucky break. It costs me absolutely nothing. Tanaka, Cooper, Aguilar, MacDougal, Suzuki, etc, etc, can all still be had. If they can't be moved, at least I see if they do something and it keeps me paying attention and somewhat vested. I'm a fan of real life, but I think sometimes we use it too much for this game. Would I hand out these contracts in real life? Of course not. In the context of the game though, why not? If we find out that not spending money one year impacts your ability to spend in the future that would change everything, but seemingly, it doesn't.
I think it's been 3 years. Maybe I should fire the manager. I've posted a winning record 6 of the last 7 years, that counts for something, right?
